One of the top 5 luxury ski resorts, St Anton is quite rightly a favourite of advanced skiers. The ski slopes are perfect for intermediate skiers and the off-piste testing enough for even the best experts. The Valluga a particular favourite after a big dump of snow and even without fresh powder, it has to be one of the best mogul runs you will ski in any of the best luxury ski resorts.
The skiing in St Anton goes without saying, the luxury ski chalets accordingly, but where St Anton really gets its reputation and is famous for outstanding luxury ski chalet holidays is its apres-ski that starts on the slopes long before you get to your luxury chalet. Whilst some luxury ski resorts carry on into the small hours of the morning, St Anton takes it a step further and at best stops for an hour just to set up breakfast!
Worth Knowing
Situated in the Arlberg region, luxury ski resort St Anton has a great snow record in the Alps. Although its height does not compare with the 3,000m luxury ski resorts category, it is one of the highest peaks in this region and therefore receives a great deal of snow as a consequence.
In terms of apres-ski, no luxury ski chalet holiday in St Anton would be complete without a visit to the Mooserwirt which is situated on the ski slopes on the way down at the end of the skiing day. Some well reknown is the partying here it is probably the most famous apres-ski mountain bar - anywhere in the world!
For our more refined luxury ski holidays guests the alternative is the Rodel Hutte which also used to be the in-place on the mountain for apres-ski but nowadays has a far more refined luxury apres-ski reputation as well as a very good reputation for fine food both at lunch time and on the staff night off.
But if refined luxury ski chalet holidays are your preferred destination, you may want to give St Anton and its partying lifestyle a miss and opt instead for Lech or Zurs where the well heeled stay and dip in and out of St Anton''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s great skiing. In Lech the slopes are as refined as its guests and it is regularly skied by Royals including the British Royal family.
Off Piste Skiing
A luxury ski resort where a guide is highly recommended. The Valluga is quite rightly popular with a great drop in to Zurs, but should be only attempted with a guide and with an appredciation that this route is steep and should only be tackled by very good skiers.
